Click to enlarge. It took six years to finalize but, eventually, the 650 acres of MGC were handed over to the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), originally located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They occupy it today as I write. Their mission is described as:

"Child Evangelism Fellowship is a Bible-centered organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living." (Child Evangelism Fellowship)

MGC, originally built for something over $2 million, was sold to CEF without disclosure of the price of sale although they said it was less than the $2.8 million asking price. That's $14.1 million in today's dollars. CEF has refurbished parts of the complex, adding new buildings, another pond next to Passsionist Lake, and even a general aviation runway near the convent of the nuns who worked our kitchens. Gone are the handball courts, baseball diamond, and football field. You can find recent aerial photos of their property on our site.

This is not covered in the article but bears saying. All of us left a little bit of ourselves with MGC. I have spoken to some of you who have taken time to re-visit our high school and were received with open arms by the new owners. Yes, it's changed but our spirits still pervade the corridors, classrooms, and grounds in which we lived out our dreams, suffered our setbacks, and moved on.
